nak won
Sometimes it’s fun to explore the area in which you live. If you live in Baltimore, however, an afternoon exploring your surroundings can quickly morph into a scene from The Wire. Cue me and Alice running (no joke) to the nearest restaurant we could find, our path illuminated by the reassuring flickering blue lights on every street corner we passed. So that’s how we ended up at Nak Won (12 W 20th Street). The food was alright, not as good as Nam Kang but enjoyable nonetheless. The banchan was good, I especially liked the bok choy and bean sprouts, and Alice really enjoyed disliked the Spam (bottom left corner).

The restaurant was very accommodating to my vegan demands (sub tofu for beef, no egg, etc.). The bibimbap was good, though it could have had a nicer crust on the bottom.

The food was very reasonably priced, I think it was a little less than the bibimbap at Nam Kang. So, if you’re looking for Korean food on a budget, give Nak Won a try.
